Cassie Blake was given some strange old documents/parchments by an antique shop owner Calvin. The documents contained mysterious that even Cassie's grandmother, Jane (an elder), did not recognize the symbols. Being curious as to why Calvin gave her those old documents, she tried to find out about them. With the help of Jake, she discovered her father's family tree hidden between the parchments. The name of her father as written on the parchment was John Blackwell, however, Jake realized that it was not really John Blackwell but John Bellcorn. The family tree traced back to the darkest power of witchcraft. Jake, however, did not tell Cassie about what he discovered.
Jake told the head of the witch hunters about Cassie's ancestor. The head told Jake that he should bring Cassie to the council of witch hunters, having the intention of using Cassie's dark magic to their advantage.
Faye had suspicions about Jake's intention on Cassie and the circle. She told the already-suspecting Adam about it and they've decided to be more careful around Jake and watch their backs against him.
Jake and Cassie went together to the Gala Fund Raiser. Adam, never taking his eyes off Jake, discovered that Jake is a witch hunter when he saw him talking to the head of the witch hunters. Adam then told the others about it but when he went back inside the party, Cassie and Jake are nowhere to be seen.
Meanwhile, Jake told Cassie what he discovered about her father's family. He told her that they need to leave Chance Harbor to protect Cassie but she doesn't want to leave her grandma and her friends. While arguing about leaving, Cassie received a text from Adam about Jake being a witch hunter. Cassie, not wanting Jake to suspect about her finding about the truth, pretended that she wanted to go with him. She pretended to go home to pick up her things. But then, Jake saw Cassie being taken by the head witch hunter at her home. He tried to save Cassie but he was knocked unconscious by the witch hunters.
Adam and Faye found Jake unconscious outside his home. When he woke up, he told them that Cassie has been taken by the witch hunters. The three of them then went off to the lake to save Cassie. Adam found Cassie and brought her to safety. When they were attacked by the head witch hunter, Jake helped them and let them leave the boat. Cassie, Adam and Faye then casted a spell to put the dock on fire to prevent the witch hunters (including Jake) to run after them. Jake admitted to the head that he cared about Cassie. The boat then sailed off with Jake and other witch hunters, leaving the circle behind.
OTHER SIGNIFICANT HAPPENINGS:
The spell that Diana's father and Faye's mother put on Jane Blake to make her forget about what happened to Henry Chamberlain (Faye's grandpa) seemed to have gone wrong. Jane seemed to confuse things (even referring Cassie as her daughter Amelia) and forget things.
The head of the witch hunters told Jake that "Cassie Blake is not the only child of Blackwell in the circle". Having heard Jane mentioned about Faye's mother being smitten by John Blackwell, I think it is fair to assume that the other Blackwell in the circle is Faye.
